Have them begin to listen to podcasts - email good podcasts to teachers to promote listening.
I have found a wonderful article from THE Journal called, "Building a Better Podcast". It covers the topic from start to finish and gives suggestions for improving your own podcasts. For example, the article states that NPR (National Public Radio) uses music to transition between topics. Incorporating transitions like this with music will improve the experience for the listener.
How to set up syndication?
www.feedburner.com works great with blogger. It even keeps up with statistics of downloads, subscribers and such. It is somewhat complicated to setup for most people. Once it setup then you don't have to do it again.
www.edublogs.org syndication is automatic. They use the WordPress system. It does leave the end subscriber on their own as to how they want to syndicate it. Basicaly it doesn't give you the option to put the "itunes" (or any specific other ) button on it. Edublogs is easy to use and manage for blogs and podcasts. I actually moved my TechTips blog over to edublogs this week. http://roundrocktechguy.edublogs.org/
Outsourcing the web hosting (to me) is the best way to have full control of everything. You can have as many blogs/podcasts/wikis as you can stand. You also have full administrative rights for logins of student and teacher accounts. You also have as much space as you possibly need with the potential to add more. - This option might be a little out of our realm in this podcast endeavor. I know what you are saying, but I am not sure if this is the place to start.
**http://members.cox.net/niessen/podcasting-thebigpicture.htm**- shows options for broadcasting your podcast - (Gcast will not be an option since it adds advertisments to your podcast. This may not be to safe for elem. students or in alignment with the AUP.)
How to Keep the Broadcast Going: (not a one hit wonder):
Willow web - they have different shows from different classes all under one broadcast title
Club to provide the extra production value??

Meeting Notes:
How can RRISD provide a venue for podcasting for the purposes of an ITS developed professional development model, teacher created podcasts for students, and students creating podcasts for the world in such a way that it meets AUP?
Why are we doing it?
What is the purpose of the podcast other than for the podcasts' sake?
A shift in the purpose of the assessment, the final product is no longer only for a grade.
Second language learners can benefit from them if they're broadcasting out to homes, from podcasting.
Katie ISD gave iPods to all ELL students to take home.
What are teachers wanting to do right now?
A podcasting club? that evolves with the school and exchanges hands to future users.
Once they're obsolete, what happens to them?
Podcast producers vs. Podcast users
Which comes first?
Student created content vs. Teacher created content vs. Professional development
ITS create content for teachers...
Do teachers need to create content themselves first? before having students create content?
Proposal:
4 different projects
An audio journal/book available
not a podcast
An ITS developed Professional development model
Can start this right away
Teacher created for students
Teachers will need support
Student created for world
Club at school
Announcements/ global-cast
Moodles' capacity for meeting the needs
How do we determine what products we can support? There are an infinite number of choices out there... how do we choose?
Can we ask for server space to put audio files? See if it's being used, how it's being used, etc?
When it's working, what is it going to look like?
How do you instill a sense of value for teachers that are busy?
What are we going to do next?
Debbie will
look at Technology TEKS, LA TEKS, and how they're in line with podcasting
look for examples of podcasts already being use
post information to wiki and discuss with other ITS
meeting (after Spring Break) to increase awareness, discuss possible challenges
